Pulane Malefane

Secretary General

Pulane Malefane started her Higher Education career in 2003 at Central University of Technology, Free State, working in the office of Student Financial Aid Services. She joined the University of the Free State in 2006, serving in the Department of Student Finance and later joined Student Housing as a Residence Head.

She is currently serving as a Director: Residence Life at UFS; her role is to provide visionary leadership and administration to 29 Residence communities, with a capacity of just over 5300 students in Bloemfontein and South Campus. This is to ensure great success in the residence programs in fostering student success and nurturing graduate attributes.

Professionalising student housing is key to Pulane because it contributes to upholding ethical conduct and providing valuable service to students and other stakeholders.

Pulane is very involved in ACUHO-I SAC and the Student Housing Training Institute (SHTI). She has been a faculty member at RV-SHTI in South Africa and a faculty member in the Global Student Housing Training Institute in Australia. She also participated in the ACUHO-I Professional Standards Institute.

She has a Business Leadership degree from UFS Business School and is currently registered for a Master’s in Higher Education.

She is serving on the Board of ACUHO-I SAC as the  Secretary General
