He currently serves as the Director of Campus Housing and Residence Life (CHRL) at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where he strategically oversees university accommodation, operations, and holistic student life initiatives. Recognized across South Africa as a leading expert in the student housing sector, Basil has been instrumental in shaping modern residential standard models. Notably, during his previous tenure as an institutional and residence manager at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), he spearheaded the development and implementation of the groundbreaking Accreditation Policy for Privately-Owned Student Accommodation, aligning institutional housing with national minimum norms and standards.

A passionate educator, facilitator, and advocate for student success, Basil’s professional philosophy centers on transforming student residences into vibrant learning-living communities that foster academic excellence and personal growth. Basil holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Media Science from the University of Johannesburg, blending an advanced educational framework with hands-on administrative acumen to design residential spaces that support diverse student bodies.

As the President-Elect of the ACUHO-I Southern South African Chapter, Basil is poised to lead the regional organization into its next era of strategic innovation, collaboration, and professional advancement.
