Phillip Kudzanayi Chibvuri
Treasurer
Phillip K. Chibvuri is a Finance Specialist and Special Projects Lead at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), with over 12 years of experience in higher education finance, infrastructure development, and strategic commercial initiatives. His expertise spans sustainable student accommodation, infrastructure capital structuring, project finance, commercial development, ESG integration, risk management, and institutional sustainability.
Originally trained as an Internal Auditor in Cape Town, Phillip has built a multidisciplinary career at the intersection of finance, strategy, and sustainability. He is a Chartered Financial Manager (CFM, SA), holds an MBA in Finance and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria, and has executive studies in Sustainability Reporting and ESG Data Management at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
Throughout his career, Phillip has led and supported major strategic initiatives focused on institutional growth, financial sustainability, and commercial innovation. His work includes the development of practical frameworks for the commercialisation of non-academic operations and sustainable value creation within higher education institutions, mining and hospitality, contributing to emerging thinking on organisational financial resilience.
Has served on several boards. A pension fund board, property investment board, and the Treasurer General of the Association.
Through these roles, he has contributed to financial governance, strategic oversight, and the advancement of the higher education and infrastructure sectors across the region. Phillip is a contributor with extensive experience in both strategy and implementation.
